Here’s a selection of magazines you shouldn’t overlook.
I’m assuming you’re interested in graphic design, because otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this post, right?
It’s normal for graphic designers and creative studios to keep up with the work of our peers in the profession.
Why does it pay to stay informed?
- It’s a good way to gauge the work we’re doing
- It’s a good way to take the temperature of the work being done beyond our own four walls.
- Perfect for learning and improving.
- A shop window for trends.
- And of course, information makes us grow.
01.Eye Magazine
Eye Magazine is a magazine with 26 years behind it, created by graphic designers, students and graphic design lovers.
In it you’ll find the latest in trends, opinion, events and criticism.
There’s a print edition you can also buy, as well as the online one.
- Best bit: the criticism section – we’re hugely grateful that someone dares to run a graphic design magazine and is able to spark debate around some of the trends and the work.
- Worst bit: the website design; minimal as it is, we think the space isn’t fully used.

02.On Diseño
On Diseño is a graphic design magazine, but also one about creativity in general.
It has sections for projects, products, an events calendar and interesting news.
- Best bit: it’s very interesting for interior and exterior designers.
- Worst bit: the website design doesn’t do justice to the current content.

03.Experimenta
Like On Diseño, Experimenta is very much focused on the graphic design of objects, architecture, materials and some very interesting solutions.
If you want to keep up with everything that’s happening, its events section is perfect.
It also has a very strong opinion section.
- Best bit: its events section is very good and gets updated regularly.
- Worst bit: you may not find what you’re after if you’re not interested in applied design — objects, decoration and so on.

04.Visual
Visual is a magazine about design, graphic creativity and communication.
It offers a wide range of design and creativity articles.
- Best bit: the content is high quality.
- Worst bit: visually it isn’t a match for its content.

05.Creadictos
Creadictos is a digital magazine created and framed from a contemporary perspective.
It has loads of articles and publishes a lot of quality content; it’s excellent for makers and graphic designers hungry for information.
- Best bit: of everything on offer, the addition of a graphic design podcast stands out most.
- Worst bit: it only just about adapts to different devices.
